Lubbock ISD Launches 2026-2027 Community Leadership Academy
Lubbock Independent School District (Lubbock ISD) is currently accepting applications for its annual Community Leadership Academy. Meetings for the academy begin in October 2026 and conclude in April 2027 for a total of seven meetings over the course of the 2026-2027 school year. The application can be found online and will close at midnight on Friday, Sept. 18, and those accepted will be notified on Wednesday, Sept. 23.
Open to district parents and adult community members, the academy provides opportunities for participants to hear from district students, teachers and administrators and tour district facilities and campuses. Participants will interact with leaders and decision makers in Lubbock ISD, who can answer the why and how behind the decisions that are made to ensure the sustainability, future and functionality of our district. They will also have the chance to provide feedback on how the district can continue to fulfill its mission of nurturing, developing and inspiring every child, every day.
Each meeting will take place from 8-11 a.m. on Wednesdays, with the first meeting taking place on Oct. 7. Participants will check in at the Lubbock ISD Central Office (1628 19th St.) for breakfast and the first hour of each meeting. The last two hours will be dedicated to tours of various district campuses and facilities.

Topics for this year’s meetings include:

Developing Leaders: Preparing Our Students for their Future. This meeting will take a closer look at student opportunities related to career and technical education opportunities and College, Career and Military Readiness.

Operating a District: A Look Behind the Scenes. This meeting will provide an inside look at the various departments needed to ensure efficient and effective operations across the district.

Academics & Learning: It’s More Than You Think. This meeting will focus on the academic opportunities provided to students at all levels across the district.

Every Child, Every Day: Services, Support and Innovation. This meeting will provide information about the unique services, resources and programming the district offers to meet specialized needs of families and students.

Fine Arts: Partnerships & Creativity. This meeting will highlight the district’s Fine Arts offerings and the impact of community partnerships.

All About Athletics. This meeting will highlight the athletic opportunities available to students across the district.
