RV/No. 17 Tech heads to Dallas for Thursday showdown at SMU
RV/No. 17 Texas Tech hits the road for the first match of September on Thursday night when they make the short trip across the State of Texas to face SMU at Washburne Soccer and Track Stadium. First touch from Highland Park is set for 7 p.m.
Riding a 15-match in-state (Texas) unbeaten streak (11-0-4) dating back to an Oct. 25, 2024 loss at home to BYU, Texas Tech will also seek to extend a 12-match winning streak following a loss or draw that includes six wins a season ago and five wins in 2024.
Tech has won its lone opportunity following a draw this season, Aug. 23’s 2-0 win over Boise State.
The Red Raiders also enter the week having won 47 matches since the start of the 2023 season, the fifth-most in the country over that span. The Red Raiders trail just Stanford (61), Florida State (56), North Carolina (51) and Miss State (48) for the nation’s lead in wins since the start of the 2023 season. Tech is currently tied with TCU, Wake, UCLA and Michigan State at 47 wins.
Thursday’s match against SMU kicks-off a busy two-match week for the Red Raiders that includes Sunday’s home match against San Diego State. First touch is set for 7 p.m.

47: Once of the best and most consistent programs in the country the last four seasons, Tech enters the fourth week of the 2026 season sitting at 47-9-14 (.771) over the programs last 70 matches (since the start of the 2023 season). Only four schools nationally have more wins than Tech over that span: Stanford (61), Florida State (56), North Carolina (51) and Miss State (48). Tech is tied with TCU, Wake, UCLA, and Michigan State for the fifth-most wins since 2023.
15: In a streak that dates to the conclusion of the regular season in 2024, Texas Tech enters Thursday’s contest in Dallas against SMU riding a 15-match unbeaten streak in matches contested in the State of Texas. The Red Raiders are 11-0-4 in their last 15 matches held in Texas, once again dating back to the 2-1 home loss to BYU to close out the 2024 regular season (Oct. 25).
12: Know for a bounce back ability, the Red Raiders enter the week riding an impressive streak of finding a way to win their next match following a setback or draw as Tech has won 12-straight matches following either a draw or setback dating back to 2023 when Tech drew Princeton (advanced on PKs) before losing 1-0 in the Round of 16. The Red Raiders went a perfect 6-0-0 a season ago when following a loss or draw, and 5-0-0 in 2024. The Red Raiders are 17-1-0 since the start of the 2023 season after a loss or draw.
QUICK KICKS:
- RV/No. 17 Texas Tech will make the short trip across the state for a Thursday night contest at SMU. Playing in Highland Park for the first time since 2007, Tech will seek its first all-time at SMU in program history, as the Red Raiders are 0-3-1 all-time in Dallas at SMU.
- Just one goal shy of becoming the sixth Red Raider all-time to reach 30 career goals, Taylor Zdrojewski has now scored three times in Tech’s last two matches after being shutout in Hawaii in the first two matches of the season.
- Tech is in an impressive 18-1-1 when Zdrojewski finds the net all-time including a perfect 7-0-0 in the seven occasions when she scores twice in a contest. Taylor entered solo sixth in both goals and points on Thursday night (68).
- Despite allowing her first goal (that counted; Todd conceded a goal in the exhibition against UNM) in a Red Raider uniform in Thursday’s 1-1 draw against RV Pepperdine, Tech goalie Addie Todd continues to shine in her first season with the Scarlet and Black and as the two-time NCAA Champion and FSU transfer leads a Tech defense that has allowed just one goal in the season’s first four matches.
- Todd is 20th nationally in goals-against-average (.025) and ranks second amongst Big 12 goalkeepers in the stat. Todd leads the Big 12 in saves per game (4.00) and is also No. 1 in save percentage (.941) in the Big 12 and 15th nationally.
- The Red raiders three shutouts are tied for 13th nationally and the most in the Big 12.
- In addition to State of Texas unbeaten streak that sits at 15, the Red Raiders are also riding a nine match overall unbeaten streak (4-0-5) dating back to an uncharacteristic 3-0 setback at No. 22/7 Colorado a season ago (Oct. 23).
- Both of Tech’s “defeats” in postseason play came via a 1-1 draw that featured a PK loss. Tech was eliminated from the Big 12 Tournament falling in PKs 7-6, before falling 4-3 to the Tar Heels of UNC in the Round of 32.
- The Red Raiders are 14-1-7 (.795) in their last 22 matches and are 16-2-7 in the last 25 matches (.780).
- In the first matchup against a Power Conference opponent this season, Thursday’s match also provides Tech an opportunity to notch an-other quality road win, as SMU enters this weekend 4-1-1 overall and are unbeaten in five home matches (4-0-1).
- The Red Raiders and Mustangs have played one common opponent, Boise State. SMU and Boise played to a scoreless draw, while Tech downed BSU 2-0 back on Aug. 23. SMU have won three-straight including back-to-back shutout wins over Southern (4-0) and Houston Christian ( (2-0). The Mustangs lone loss was a 4-3 road loss at then No. 5 (now No. 3) Vanderbilt on opening night. SMU has scored 16 times and averaged 16.5 shots per game.
