Right Now, Children are Waiting for an Advocate! CASA of the South Plains Seeks Thirty New Volunteers
Every child deserves someone in their corner. CASA of the South Plains is calling on thirty community members to take the next step and become a CASA Volunteer for children in foster care.
Every single child in foster care has experienced unimaginable abuse or neglect. Today, there are more children in foster care than CASA Volunteers available to stand beside them. They need you. During times of change and uncertainty in a child’s life, a CASA Volunteer provides something incredibly important: consistency. Volunteers get to know children for who they truly are and then legally advocate for their best interests, making sure their voice is heard and their needs are being met.
The goal is simple: Provide every child in foster care with a CASA Volunteer.
Becoming a CASA Volunteer starts with attending a CASA 101 Information Session. These one-hour no-obligation sessions are an opportunity to learn more about CASA, the volunteer role, and how you can stand beside a child in foster care.
To qualify for our next training class, community members are encouraged to attend a CASA 101 Information Session by October 6, 2026. This is our last training class of the year, and we hope to fill it with 30 community members!

About CASA of the South Plains
CASA of the South Plains inspires, educates, and empowers solution-minded community members who are committed to supporting the best interest of children in the foster care system. Volunteer advocates create connections and promote nurturing relationships for the child and family, encouraging hope and healing. Through court appointment and collaborative efforts, volunteer advocates share informed recommendations for the well-being of the child. CASA supports children in six counties in the South Plains: Cochran, Hale, Hockley, Lubbock, Terry, and Yoakum.
CASA’s Impact*
- 374 children received advocacy services from CASA of the South Plains in 2025.
- 222 CASA Volunteers donated a total of 5,832 hours in 2025, saving county taxpayers $320,760 in county paid attorneys’ fees.
- 120 youth in foster care found permanency with the help of their CASA Volunteer in 2025.
