Buddy’s 90th Birthday Bash — Free Drive-In Movie Night, Sept. 4, Lubbock
Rave On Lounge will host Buddy’s 90th Birthday Bash on Friday, September 4, celebrating 90 years of Lubbock’s own rock & roll legend, Buddy Holly. The free, community-wide event runs from 6:00 PM into the night at the Rave On Lounge Patio, 1300 Mac Davis Lane, and is part of the First Friday Art Trail.
Starting at 6:00 PM, guests can roll in for an evening of classic cars, concessions, drinks, and live community spirit. The night also features live music from Vibe LBK, the house band, who will keep the rock & roll energy going throughout the evening. The highlight of the night is a special drive-in showing of La Bamba, the beloved film about rocker Ritchie Valens, whose story intertwines with the era Buddy Holly helped define. The movie begins at 9:00 PM.
“We’re celebrating 90 years of Buddy Holly, and everyone’s invited,” said a spokesperson for the Buddy Holly Hall. “Join us as we welcome the community to Rave On for a FREE night of fun — come celebrate Buddy, enjoy a night out in Lubbock, and Rave On & Roll In with us.”
