Bresnu, Wiedemeyer named to Haskins Award preseason watch list

The Haskins Foundation announced Thursday that Texas Tech’s Adam Bresnu and Tim Wiedemeyer were named to the preseason watch list for the 2026 Haskins Award, presented by Stifel. The award annually recognizes the most outstanding NCAA Division I male college golfer.

Seven of the 25 golfers on this year’s preseason list carry over from last spring’s list, including Texas Tech’s Bresnu and Wiedemeyer, along with Ryder Cowan (Oklahoma), William Jennings (Alabama), Preston Stout (Oklahoma State), Harry Takis (San Diego State) and Connor Williams (Arizona State).

Bresnu and Wiedemeyer are coming off standout junior seasons in which they tied for the lowest scoring average among the Red Raiders, each posting a 70.0 mark. Bresnu recorded his 70.0 over 36 rounds, while Wiedemeyer’s came over 34 rounds. Both golfers also posted a 68.6 adjusted scoring average, according to Scoreboard powered by Clippd.

Bresnu started all 12 events for the Red Raiders and led the team with four top-five finishes and 17 rounds in the 60s. He recorded six top-10 finishes and nine top-20 finishes, including a tie for second at The Prestige. Bresnu also tied for fifth at the Amer Ari Invitational after carding a 17-under-par 199, highlighted by a pair of 7-under-par 65s during the season. He earned first-team All-Big 12 and third-team All-America honors following the season, while also being named to the PING All-Region Team.

Wiedemeyer started 11 of Texas Tech’s 12 tournaments and captured his first collegiate victory at the OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational in September. He finished the 54-hole event at 6-under-par 204 after recording three consecutive rounds in the 60s. Wiedemeyer tied for the team lead with six top-10 finishes and led the Red Raiders with 27 par-or-better rounds. He also recorded two career-low rounds of 64 during the season, including an 8-under-par 64 in the final round of the Amer Ari Invitational. Like Bresnu, Wiedemeyer earned first-team All-Big 12 and third-team All-America honors and was named to the PING All-Region Team.

The selections of Bresnu and Wiedemeyer mark the latest recognition for Texas Tech’s men’s golf program from the Haskins Foundation. Both golfers were also named to the 2025-26 Haskins Award final fall and spring watch lists alongside teammate Connor Graham. Texas Tech was the only college golf program to feature three individuals on the 25-player final fall watch list, while all three Red Raiders were included on the 20-player spring watch list.

Texas Tech has continued to be represented prominently in the Haskins Award in recent years, with Graham, Bresnu and Wiedemeyer earning recognition during the 2025-26 season and Ludvig Åberg winning the award on May 23, 2023.

First presented in 1971, the Fred Haskins Award is given annually to the top male U.S. collegiate Division I golfer, as voted on by players, coaches, members of the college golf media and past Haskins Award winners. Past winners have gone on to capture 33 major championships and more than 400 professional titles worldwide.
