Four Lubbock ISD High Schools Featured in Hub City Classic Back-to-Back Football Matchups
Lubbock Independent School District (Lubbock ISD) Athletics is eager to announce the first official Lubbock ISD high school games of the 2026 Football season featuring two days of inter-district matchups between Lubbock ISD’s four traditional high schools: Coronado, Estacado, Lubbock High and Monterey.
The season opens on Thursday, Aug. 27, between the Estacado Matadors and the Lubbock High Westerners at PlainsCapital Park at 7 p.m.
The second game, set for the following night (Friday, Aug. 28), is a showdown between the Coronado Mustangs and the Monterey Plainsmen at PlainsCapital Park at 7 p.m.
“We’re so excited to officially kickoff the football season with the Lubbock ISD Hub City Classic, which will feature all four of our high school football teams over two nights,” said Mike Meeks, Executive Director of Athletics. “No matter the outcome of the matches, I’m extremely proud of the work our students and coaches have put in the past couple of weeks to prepare for some friendly competition.”
Tickets for the game must be purchased online on the Hometown Ticketing website. Guests attending PlainsCapital Park games must comply with the district’s clear bag policy. The games will also be live streamed on the official Lubbock ISD YouTube page.
