The Buddy Holly Center’s annual Summer Showcase Concert Series continues its season on Thursday, July 23rd with Jonny Verbeten Trio!

Formed in 2022, the Jonny Verbeten Trio brings classic jazz to West Texas. Comprised of Jonny Verbeten on piano, Dustin Pedigo on upright bass, and Tristan Nock on drums, the group performs regularly at eateries, bars, and private events in Lubbock and the greater West Texas area. The trio is modeled on the classic Bill Evans Trio and 1960s New York sound, but also plays their own originals.

With such a small and intimate ensemble, each member brings a unique sense of musicality to every song. Improvisation is key and all three members regularly take solos and trade musical phrases. Jonny, Dustin, and Tristan bring decades of jazz musicianship to the table and have been turning out tunes by the likes of Bill Evans, Dave Brubeck, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, and Thelonius Monk, as well as original compositions, since the group formed in 2022.

Concerts are every Thursday evening from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Meadows Courtyard, May 21 – August 13. Guests are welcome to bring outside food. However, outside beverages are not permitted after 5:00pm. Chairs, picnic blankets, and like items will NOT be permitted inside the gates.

Admission is FREE! Enjoy a cash bar! Seating for this event is available on a first come, first serve basis.

In addition to viewing the concerts, guests are encouraged to walk the Buddy Holly exhibitions and the Fine Arts Gallery during Summer Showcase hours with FREE admission.

The Summer Showcase Concert Series is funded through sponsorships and donations.
