The Buddy Holly Center’s annual Summer Showcase Concert Series continues its season on Thursday, June 4th with Jeune!

Jeune is an indie / alternative band based in Lubbock Texas. Formed in early 2020 by lead vocalist Layla and drummer / producer Matt, the goal behind this project was to freely express musical ideas regardless of genre. Their debut album ‘Atmosphere’ was released July 2025, and was sold at local store Ralph’s Records until sold out.

They have been featured on several local showcases throughout the years, as well as a performance at the First Friday Art Trail in August 2024.

Their music video for “Memory” was also featured in the 2023 Flatland Film festival.

Current members include:

Layla Cox – Vocalist, Songwriter

Matt Hernandez – Drums, Guitars

Michael Lambert – Guitars, Vocals

Carlos Rodriguez Jr. – Bass

Michael Olivarez – Lead Guitars

Justin Garcia – Guitars, Keyboard

Concerts are every Thursday evening from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Meadows Courtyard, May 21 – August 13. Guests are welcome to bring outside food. However, outside beverages are not permitted after 5:00pm. Chairs, picnic blankets, and like items will NOT be permitted inside the gates.

Admission is FREE! Enjoy a cash bar! Seating for this event is available on a first come, first serve basis.

In addition to viewing the concerts, guests are encouraged to walk the Buddy Holly exhibitions and the Fine Arts Gallery during Summer Showcase hours with FREE admission.
