Lubbock ISD names Marcus Limon as EHS Head Baseball Coach
Lubbock Independent School District (Lubbock ISD) Athletics and Estacado High School have named Marcus Limon as the new Head Baseball Coach for the Matadors 2026-2027 baseball program.
Limon brings an extensive background in coaching, education and player development to Estacado High. His experience includes coaching and teaching positions in Brownfield ISD, Frenship ISD, Wellman-Union ISD and Midland ISD.
A graduate of Wayland Baptist University, Limon earned All-American honors and was named Sooner Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year during his collegiate career. He later signed professionally with the Minnesota Twins organization.
“We are excited to welcome Marcus Limon as the next leader of our Estacado baseball program,” said Mike Meeks, Lubbock ISD Executive Director of Athletics. “Marcus brings tremendous passion for student-athletes, strong baseball knowledge, and a commitment to developing young men on and off the field. His experience, relationships within the community, and ability to build a positive culture make him an outstanding fit for Estacado High School as we prepare for the upcoming football and baseball seasons.”
As a student-athlete at Estacado High School, Limon excelled as a two-sport standout, earning Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association First Team All-State honors in baseball while also leading the Matadors as quarterback of the football team.
“Coach Limon understands the pride and tradition of Estacado High School and what it means to represent the Matador community,” Estacado High Principal Angelica Wilbanks added. “We are excited about the leadership, energy and mentorship he will bring to our student-athletes both in the classroom and in competition.”
Limon also expressed enthusiasm about returning to Estacado and leading the Matadors program.
“It is an honor to return to Estacado High School and serve as the head baseball coach,” Limon said. “Estacado has a proud tradition, and I look forward to building strong relationships with our student-athletes, staff, families and community while developing a program that competes with pride, discipline, and toughness.”
Limon has five children, including his oldest daughter, Riley, 16, and four younger children with his wife, Mallory: Arianna, 5; Harper, 3; and twin sons Michael Hector and Callum David, 8 months. The Limon family looks forward to continuing its commitment to the Estacado community and supporting the success of Matador students both on and off the field.
Limon will begin his duties immediately as preparations begin for the 2026-27 school year and the upcoming football and baseball seasons.
