Texas Tech Keeps on Winning in the Lubbock Regional

Texas Tech Softball wins 10-3 over the Marist Red Foxes in the first of three possible games in the Lubbock Regional.
The scoring got started in the top of the 1st after Texas Tech pitcher Kaitlyn Terry gave up an RBI single to Sienna Kunze, which scored Peyton Pusey.
The Red Raiders got one run back on a two-out single from designated player Jasmyn Burns, who hit a rocket to left field, scoring Kaitlyn Terry.
Kaitlyn Terry on how she felt playing and how the team performed as well.
“Just kind of trusting my stuff and trusting my team behind me to get the place done…. I think they did amazing,” Terry stated.
Terry then settled in the next inning, going 1–2–3 with two strikeouts.
Almost looked similar to Texas Tech until Logan Halleman, who has seen limited action at the plate, hit a bunt single. Then took off to steal second on the next pitch, causing two throwing errors and making it all the way home.
Texas Tech head coach Gerry Glasco had a lot to say about Halleman’s impact today. “You want to be the one to be a nightmare for yourself. And Logan was a great nightmare. They’ll see her in their sleep tonight,” said Glasco.
That’s how TTU took the lead and never looked back. Lead-off hitter Mihyia Davis hit a single up the middle, Terry doubled to bring home another, and then Williams ended things with an RBI bunt single to make it a three-run second inning.
The third inning saw a five-run barrage from the Red Raiders. With Taylor Pannell sending a laser to left field for a two-run shot. Miyhia Davis turned up the heat with a single that scored Hailey Toney, and lastly was a steal of home for Logan Halleman. Davis would also score on a
fielding error from Pusey.
As the teams warmed up during an inning change, a dust storm paired with lightning and rain halted the game after 2 outs were recorded by Terry. The weather delay lasted from 5:49 p.m. central time to 7:20 p.m. Terry only needed 4 pitches to head to the bottom of the 4th with Tech still leading by 8 runs.
Fast forward to the top of the 5th as Marist would be down to their final three guaranteed outs of the ballgame due to the run rule being in effect. Unless they could plate across one or more runs.
Left-handed pitcher Samantha Lincoln came into the game for Terry and immediately was tested with a single that went off her glove, a fielder’s choice, and then another single.
With two runners on and down to the last strike of the game. Haley Ahr hit a double to deep center field that went off Davis’s glove. Marist had moved the game back to a full-length, seven-inning match.
Back-to-back doubles from Terry and Williams would be the final scoring for both squads as the Red Raiders clinched their spot against Ole Miss with a win.
“They’re going to be fired up in the cage fight tomorrow. It will be a war. There’s no doubt about it.” Said Glasco.
Texas Tech will take on Ole Miss on May 16th at 2:00 p.m. at Tracy Sellers Field. The winner of that game moves on to play for a regional championship.
