City of Lubbock Announces Oath of Office Ceremony Details for Newly-Elected Officials
The Lubbock City Council accepted the results of the May 2, 2026, Municipal Elections at the City Council meeting on Tuesday, and the newly-elected candidates took the Oath of Office and were sworn in by the City Secretary following the meeting. Councilman David Bruegel took office for District 3 on the Lubbock City Council while Mayor Mark McBrayer, Councilwoman Christy Martinez-Garcia from District 1 and Councilwoman Jennifer Wilson from District 5 were sworn in for another term.
Outgoing District 3 Councilmember David Glasheen was recognized and applauded for his service to the citizens of Lubbock.
“Councilman David Glasheen served District 3 and the entire City of Lubbock with wisdom and integrity,” said Mayor McBrayer. “Lubbock is better because of Councilman Glasheen’s service. Now I look forward to working with Councilman David Bruegel, who I know is ready and excited to keep moving Lubbock in the right direction.”
The City of Lubbock will host the Ceremonial Oath of Office Ceremony for the newly-elected members of the Lubbock City Council at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20, 2026. The ceremony will take place in the City Council Chambers at Citizens Tower, located at 1314 Avenue K. Parking will be available in the parking garage to the South of Citizens Tower. The Ceremonial Oath of Office is open to the public.
District 4 Councilman Brayden Rose, who announced his resignation for personal reasons in March, will remain in office until after the Special Election. The Special Election for District 4 will take place on Saturday, June 27, 2026. Early voting for the District 4 Special Election will be June 15-23, 2026.
