Douglas fifth Red Raider taken in Top 75 of NFL Draft, lands with Miami

Texas Tech wide receiver Caleb Douglas was selected No. 75 overall by the Miami Dolphins in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft on Friday. He became the second Red Raider taken by Miami, joining teammate Jacob Rodriguez (No. 43 overall) in South Beach.

Entering Friday, Texas Tech’s record for most draft picks in a single draft during the seven-round era (since 1994) was four in 2009. With Caleb Douglas’ selection, the Red Raiders placed five players among the top 75 picks — David Bailey (No. 2, Jets), Jacob Rodriguez (No. 43, Dolphins), Lee Hunter (No. 49, Panthers) and Romello Height (No. 70, 49ers).

Douglas, a 6-foot-4 receiver, capped his two-year Red Raider career as the team’s leading receiver in 2025, starting all 14 games his senior season. He appeared in 40 games over his career with 34 starts between his time at Texas Tech and Florida.

He led Texas Tech with 846 receiving yards and seven touchdowns, marking back-to-back 800-yard seasons as a Red Raider. Douglas averaged 60.4 yards per game and a career-best 15.7 yards per catch, helping power a Red Raider offense that ranked among the nation’s top passing attacks at 278.5 yards per game.

His performance in 2025 earned him second-team All-Big 12 honors from conference coaches, his first postseason accolade.

Draft Notes

Douglas is the first Texas Tech wide receiver selected in the NFL Draft since Erik Ezukanma, who was also selected by the Dolphins in 2022 in the fourth round.
The 2026 draft is the first draft since 1999 that one franchise took a pair of Red Raiders in the same draft. The Denver Broncos selected Montae Raagor (DE) in the second round and Darwin Brown (DB) in the fifth round.
The Big 12 had eight draft picks during Friday’s draft that consisted of rounds two and three; the Red Raiders made up half the picks, with four of the eight coming from Texas Tech.
The all-time Texas Tech record for draft picks in a single year is six, set in 1956.

The NFL Draft concludes on Saturday with rounds four through seven, with coverage starting at 11 a.m. CT on ABC, ESPN and NFL Network.
