The Texas Transit Association (TTA) will host the 2026 State Bus Roadeo on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center, with this year’s event proudly being hosted by Citibus.

The State Bus Roadeo brings together some of the best bus operators and maintenance technicians from transit agencies across Texas for a day of competition, professional development, and recognition. The event highlights the skill, precision, and dedication required to safely operate and maintain public transportation systems serving communities throughout the state.

The roadeo will feature both an Operator Competition and a Maintenance Competition, showcasing the talents of frontline transit professionals. In addition to the competition itself, the event includes a valuable training component designed to help participants sharpen their skills, improve safety practices, and enhance technical knowledge.

“The State Bus Roadeo is an opportunity to recognize the outstanding men and women who keep public transportation moving safely and eTiciently across Texas,” said Chris Mandrell, General Manager of Citibus. “This event not only celebrates excellence, but also reinforces the importance of training, professionalism, and continuous improvement in our industry.”

Winners of the Roadeo will be recognized during an Awards Banquet in the Ballroom of the Texas Tech University Student Union Building. Top competitors may also earn the opportunity to advance and represent Texas at the national level.

The TTA State Bus Roadeo is part of the TTA 2026 State Conference, Expo, and Roadeo, which brings together public transportation professionals, business partners, and industry leaders from across the state.

Note: Citibus will also be recognized as the 2026 Outstanding Urban Transit System in the State at the TTA Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at 12:30 PM.
