No. 2/3 Red Raiders fall to Texas State
No. 2/3 Red Raiders fell 3-0 to Texas State (29-16) on Wednesday in the final game of its six games in six days road trip. Tech (42-4) got five hits but weren’t able to turn them into runs as the Bobcat’s Maddy Azua pitched a shutout.
NiJaree Canady drops to 17-3 on the season despite going all 6.0 innings with five strikeouts in what was a solid outing for the All-American. Kaitlyn Terry had the Red Raiders only extra-base hit of the day on a double to right center field as she extended her on-base streak to 34 games this season.
How it Happened:
The Bobcats took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth with a solo homer and then added two more runs, one unearned, in the fifth to make it a 3-0 game.
The Red Raiders had their chances in the fifth inning when they loaded the bases with two outs and in the top of the seventh after a lead off walk but were not able to get anything across the plate after ground outs in both instances.
UP NEXT: The Red Raiders will get a break before facing UTEP in El Paso next week.
