Covenant Children’s will host its fourth annual Weekend of Giving, raising funds to support the Covenant Children’s Emergency Department and enhance the patient experience for children and families across the South Plains.

Weekend of Giving has become one of the region’s most impactful philanthropic events, generating critical support for programs in children’s and women’s health. These funds help ensure families across West Texas and eastern New Mexico have access to specialized care close to home. The event continues to elevate awareness of the vital role Covenant Children’s plays across a region spanning hundreds of miles.

This year’s Weekend of Giving is chaired by Joey and Debbie McGuire, whose leadership and heightened visibility following a standout season for Texas Tech Football bring additional momentum to the initiative. Hosted by the McGuires and presented by First United Bank, the weekend features the Storytellers concert on Friday, May 1, and the Chip in for Children Golf Tournament on Monday, May 4.

Friday, May 1

The 24th annual Storytellers concert features songwriters Natalie Hemby and the Warren Brothers.

Natalie Hemby is a Nashville-based songwriter with eight Billboard No. 1 singles and credits with artists including Miranda Lambert, Little Big Town, Lady Gaga, Kacey Musgraves, Maren Morris, Sheryl Crow and Ed Sheeran. A member of the Highwomen, she has won multiple Grammys, including country song of the year, and earned a Grammy for best song written for visual media for Lady Gaga’s “I’ll Never Love Again.” Hemby has released two solo albums, “Puxico” (2017) and “Pins and Needles” (2021).

The Warren Brothers Brad and Brett Warren are Grammy, CMA and Emmy-nominated songwriters with 10 Billboard No. 1 singles. Their songs have been recorded by artists including Tim McGraw, Keith Urban, Faith Hill, Martina McBride, Blake Shelton, Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan, as well as Lynyrd Skynyrd and Nickelback. They also have seven Billboard Top 40 singles as recording artists and won a Daytime Emmy for “Good Afternoon America.”

Monday, May 4

The Chip in for Children Golf Tournament returns to the Lubbock Country Club, featuring a shotgun scramble that brings together local teams and some of Lubbock’s most recognizable community favorites. Participants will enjoy a premier golf experience alongside familiar local faces.

We are grateful to the McGuire family for co-chairing for the fourth consecutive year and for the community’s continued generosity and support.
